Literary translation is a multidimensional and complex process that gains a new dimension whenthe literary text is transferred onto the screen. This kind of transfer to another medium demandscertain reductions, omissions and simplifications of some elements of the original text, includinga strong visualization. These reflections aim to investigate, on the background of intermediality, thereferences between textuality and figurativeness. ; The analysis is founded on two dimensions - firstly, the handling of figurativeness during the transfer of a text into other languages will be illuminated, secondly, the transfer into the medium of the motion picture. The basis of the analysis constitutes anexample of popular fiction - the novel "Dr No" by Ian Fleming and its translations into German andPolish as well as their film adaptations in English, German and Polish.
